For the past 20 years we have been learning more and more about the impact of traumatic events on the rest of a person's life. Significant trauma (which includes periods of homelessness) affects almost every part of a person's way of being in the world, and makes it more likely that they will experience not only mental illness, but a range of physical illnesses and much earlier death, even up to 20 years earlier than expected. It will also affect the way they, as a tenant, view you.
